Jan 18, 08 - 4:52 PM conversation with Richard Baca
I can't find the original thread that this relates to, so I'm starting a new one.
Sorry for the additional delay; I spent the morning and early afternoon chasing car parts in Guaymas.
This all started when someone referred to what happened at 144 Caracol Touristico, and I asked what happened and couldn’t get an answer. I talked to Richard and Beatrice Baca yesterday and this is essentially what they said on that subject. My interest was in the “what happened” rather than the “who did it” of the story, and although Richard named names, I won’t for the most part.
The house was partially unfinished, Richard referred to it as obra negra, but walled and secured. The owner lived in Mexico City. An interested party made three offers to buy the house, but was refused each time. Another person, using a forged law license, cedula, offered to managed to transfer the house to their name. Richard showed me a copy of the license and a copy of the letter from the agency issuing the license stating the license with that number had been issued to someone else. The interested party was occupying the house when an unnamed person with a power of attorney discovered them, and challenged them and was told that they owned the house. The person with the power of attorney left, but returned with some additional people and when the interested party left took possession for the original owner who later listed it with Catalina, and sold it. According to Richard no one from the Ordaz family was involved with the property until the original owner repossessed the property and later listed it with Catalina.
As many have said, and Richard added, all of this is public record and can be researched in the newspapers. Richard also said that if anyone still had questions he would be willing to talk to them during normal business hours, although both Richard and Beatrice said that they would like to put this behind them.
My interest in this was primarily curiosity, and probably would have been easily satisfied by anyone telling me what happened, but instead it was fed by everyone treating it as a mystery. To the extent that I have stirred the pot, I apologize to Richard and Beatrice and anyone else who have had enough of this subject.
Richard and Beatrice were both very friendly and seemed very forthcoming. I have the conversation on tape, and I believe that the above statements are an accurate digest of the parts of the conversation I went there for.

Fred: Thank you for the explanation. Too many times things are said on the board without any factual backup. Rumors, rumors rumors.
I recently had the opportunity to meet both Richard Baca and Jose Martinez. They both attended the Thursday meeting of the San Carlos Men's Breakfast Club. I found them informing, pleasant and fun to be with. They both have promised to return next Thursday. If you have any questions for them or for Alecs, who runs this board, please join us this Thursday morning at 9:00 at Rosa's Cantina for breakfast.

Fred -
Your investigative reporter skills seems to have diminished - where's the B side and furthermore - any wanna-be lawyer would tell you this is all heresay.
This is nice Oprah feel-good stuff - but not necessarily reality. Next ....

What about the women who would be interested in learning from Richard, Alecs, or some other people? Do we have to start a women's breakfast club?

again naysayers without any supporting information. It would be nice for someone to actually post some factual information on this board, especially from those of you that state that Richard Baca's story is not correct. Therefore I would have to declare your innuendos a bunch of crap as one of you so delicately put it. Once you provide some supporting information, maybe we can upgrade your post to a very nice bowel movement.
Thanks Fred!
Plain and simple Fred, you were conned
What you have posted is no secret, so why di Baca insist you go to his office in private?
why wouldn't he post it himself?
Co's hes a liar and will deny he told you. why was his wife there? easy so if anything goes wrong theyll say you threatened them.
You best keep the tape in a safe place you may need it as evidence, and keep looking over your shoulder Fred, knee caps break easy at your age!!!!.
