The shooting of the San Carlos police chief was the beginning of a naro-traffic war between the Sinaloa Cartel (house invasion - Caracol) and the Zaragoza/Ordaz (Guaymas/San Carlos) affiliated cartel.

DEA/AFI Hermosillo will be advising the Mexican Miltary as to disarmament
of State and local police in the area and vigilant occupation of the area.
